Divine Mercy, I Trust in You!

As I sat in daily mass last Friday, I was feeling sad and hopeless over the confusion and darkness of our Church. Earlier in the day, I decided I would give up a few moments to stay after mass and pray as one of my (small) sacrifices for those suffering during this time in the Church. As other mass attendees were leaving, I noticed several older women sitting silently in their pews. After a few quiet moments, they began to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet together. Feeling thankful to my high school youth minister for teaching me the words, I joined in.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

By the end, I was in tears. It was such a healing moment for me that I almost feel guilty considering it a sacrifice to be there. The concluding prayer spoke directly to the state I was in and I'd like to share it with you now. My hope is that it will give you the healing presence of the Spirit too.

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury
of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with
great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will,
which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen.
