My Rebellious HeART
"Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist."
I'm figuring out more and more that my passion for art has a lot to do with my rebellious heart. In my art and in my life I have found that doing the right thing will not necessarily make me popular. But I refuse to take the easy way out and live a dull and mediocre life filled with passing fads and constant pressure to be who the world wants me to be. Of course this comes with times of humiliation and loneliness. Rebels are so often considered outsiders. But what type of Christians would we be if we did not follow in the footsteps of Christ, betrayed, humiliated, and labeled an outcast. Christians are so often perceived as being "goody-goodies", "rule followers", and "naively compliant", but that couldn't be further from the truth. We are called to a life of rebellion, a rebellion against our own selfish desires, mediocrity, and the restrains imposed on us by the opinions of others. Comfort, acceptance, and pleasure are so often seen as the ultimate goals in life.
Brothers and sisters, we were not made for comfort, popularity, or contentment, "we were made for greatness" (Pope Benedict XVI).
